In the book “The Shack” by William P. Young God is represented as a being a woman.

The Bible has always referred to God as male.  Even in Genesis 1.27 it says “So God created humankind in his image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.”

What surprise awaits us “For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then we will see face to face”?

To be without some of the things you want

is an indispensable part of happiness.

Bertrand Russell (1872-1970)

If you had the chance to live your life again remembering all that you the mistakes made in this life, would you take the opportunity to not make them?

We have to live our lives with the mistakes of our pasts but Jesus gives us the chance to be “born again”. He says he has not come to condemn but to save.

The difficulty we have is forgiving ourselves. This holds many back.

Remember St Paul who persecuted Christians but later became their greatest missionary. He left his previous life behind and went forward in faith, confident he had been forgiven.

Gardens are magical places. God created the first garden and the risen Lord was first seen in a garden.  What stops us entering God’s garden?

Mr Craven had dreams of a garden that his late wife had loved. It held only painful memories for him that stopped him going back until he felt called to return.  On entering he found his lost love, new love and new life.

‘Colin put out his hand and laid it on his father’s arm. “Aren’t you glad, Father?” he ended. “Aren’t you glad?  I’m going to live for ever and ever and ever!”’

The Secret Garden - Frances Hodgson Burnett

I stand up, sure of one thing and one thing only. That my father will come and get me.

He won't give me a lecture, he won't try to teach me a lesson. He won't ask a thousand questions or ask me to apologize.

He'll just come and get me.  "Just tell me where you are.”

Melina Marchetta, Saving Francesca

“Listen to the mustn'ts, child.

Listen to the don'ts.

Listen to the shouldn'ts, the impossibles, the won'ts.

Listen to the never haves, then listen close to me...

Anything can happen, child. Anything can be.”

Shel Silverstei
